GS1 Sunrise Dates of 2010 and 2012 Firmly Backed by AHRMM as “Critical”

While GS1 globally is acknowledging some may not hit the standards’ sunrise dates of 2010 for the GS1 Global Location Number (GLN) and 2012 for the GS1 Global Trade Item Number(GTIN), GS1 US has consistently held to this target and a couple of months ago got the further support of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) for this timetable.

The news release about this is here. But this brief excerpt captures the AHRMM’s position:

“The sunrise dates are critical to global standards adoption and implementation,” states Deborah Sprindzunas, AHRMM Executive Director and GS1 Healthcare US Leadership Team Member. “They provide healthcare organizations and companies with a roadmap and timeline by which to accomplish a crucial piece of standards implementation.”

It’s not trivial support. AHRMM is the leading national association for executives in the healthcare resource and materials management profession and serves more then 4,000 active members.
